I worked with GIC in their network systems area. There I was responsible to design and implement network systems. Projects included cabling of printing companies, Offices and German government designated offices. We cabled CAT5, CAT6, Wireless and Fibre. Mostly we were working with about 15 to 20 people on Networks for up to 250 clients. I was responsible (later) for handling the projects and assigning the teams. Also I was responsible for the planning so that we fulfil German regulations. Mr. Fleck was quite happy with my work and we are still in good contact, and sometimes he calls me up to have a look at some network plans and to comment on them. |

I worked for Mr. Arnold on several Projects. Central of these Projects were cabling Networks. I was responsible to work out the structural requirements, the cabling plan and to attend to problems like Fire and Building arrangements. In this practical working environment I learnt much about organizing work and about dealing with a crisis. We worked together on some other projects involving networks and cabling. The Target of this assignment has been to improve the overall effectiveness of computerized work and keep the Total Cost of Ownership as low as possible. I was fully responsible for upgrading the existing BNC Network to an efficient Cat5 100BaseT Network; building a Shared Folder Server for central document exchange; improved communication by upgrading the Telephone System to ISDN; also applying ISDN for Internet access; implementing the use of Internet Banking; training on Web search and Email usage. Part of the work was also to provide training and assistance for the users so that they were able to solve minor problems themselves. In due course I sold to them customer sized Desktops running Win98, Network components and Software. I checked all deployed Software to ensure the legality of licences. After finishing that project, other projects have come up on a regular basis. I worked with the Internet provider and included the internet further into the workflow. At present I am working on a WebCam Conference Solution to improve communication between the outsourced facilities of the company. Centurion is one of many customers I provide regular advice to on different questions. The Company also recommends my services to others. |

First project was to provide documentation of the existing Network, Hardware and Software. While analysing the existing structure I found many different problems. The existing Network was in no way documented by the people who had built it. Also some parts of the Network were not installed in order to satisfy German Fire and Building regulations. Administration and security of the NT4 network was found to be non-existing. Software licensing was not satisfactory. Training of Personnel was low. The AS-400 Server and the Data exchange between that Server and the Netherlands was in bad shape. After a presentation of these problems to the company, the company decided that I should solve the existing problems. I cleaned up the Network, implemented Administration, cleaned up the Win98 Desktops and stabilised them. I recommended another company to fix the AS-400, because I felt not secure enough in AS-400 to do it myself. I also implemented ISDN Internet2Lan Software to grant access for all Clients to the Internet. This Software also had a mail service so that the information exchange in the company could be improved. I also sold Desktops, printers, and handled the purchase of additional Software licences. After finishing this job I recommended that a Service Company be hired to provide Help Services to their users. The company continues to contact me for advice on computing matters. Latest Project covers the VPN Connection between Germany and Netherlands. |

I was asked to help to solve some Hard disk storage problems with the existing NT4 Servers and to clean up some Network problems. The storage and Network problems were due to the (incompetent) installation. I fixed these problems by utilisation of Partion Magic 5.0, implementing new hard disks and cleaning up the IP pool. I also provided advice concerning the restructuring of the existing Domains, Exchange 5.5 and SQL 6.5 Installations. After long negotiations we decided to focus on some of the more serious problems. At the moment I am cleaning up the Domain Administration, stabilising the Exchange Server and enhancing the Internet Convertibility. (The company consists of three trusted domains, the Administration of logon and access is a problem and the server is unreliable). |

The target of this Project was to set up a complete Office for the start-up of this company with an emphasis on low costs. Using a Peer-to-Peer BNC Win98 Network using Shared Folders and Shared Resources I was able to finish that Project on time. In due course I bought the Desktops, peripherals and the needed Software. I also consulted to the company on the telephone system to use, the internet provider and the Internet presentation. I also worked out the methods and the use of Backup. The company recommended me to others and still has need of my services. I was assigned to sell their present Computers and buy new ones. I am also establishing a WAN Working Group Model to further develop their strategy in the communications area. |

With this Company I learnt a great deal about the needs for Backup and proper documentation. Company called me up 26.12.1999 and asked if I had time to check up if they will run into a Y2K problem. I checked the computers and found that they are all 286 and with a 386 Server running an old version of Novel. We decided to buy new computers and install a cat5/100BaseT network to replace the old Thicknet. Also we agreed to have NT4.0 instead of Novel because of the easier Administration. I was able to deliver and install Desktops, Server, Network and Software before the end of the year, so that the company could start working on the new system ASAP. The real problems started when I became aware that there was actually NO documentation for the old system. No Administrator Logon, no working Backup (Due to wrong backup strategies) and a decaying hard disk, only to name the serious problems. I was able to get around every one of these problems, and it taught me a lot. After finishing the technical part of the Project I trained an employee on Backup strategies and NT4 Administration. SES was very satisfied with my work. They still call me up for advice. |

Target of the project was to train the trainees [apprentice level and journeymen] on how to design and update a Web page. This project is not finished at present. The project included training on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and project management. It is interesting to see how people who were trained to optimise print content react to the rules how apply for optimising Web content. |

The IHK is one of my strongest customers. I reserve much time on my schedule to conduct training for the IHK. I design courses, present them on fairs and helped them clean up their educational Network. They are very satisfied with my work. See Letter of Recommendation. The trainees are either the personnel of companies or apprentices. |

I had several projects with this company. First assignment was to migrate Data from an old Desktop (386 using Win3.11 and Novel 4) to a newer system (AMD Athlon using Win98SE). I solved that problem to the full satisfaction of the customer. Next several projects came up to renew the existing IT infrastructure. This involved the upgrade from BNC to Cat5 Network, buying and installing new Desktop systems [5] and buy, install and train on different small business software applications [MS office97, accountancy software (Lexware) and Publishing Software]. With the integration of the internet into the network we decided to upgrade the internet connection from ISDN to ADSL. I was also responsible for choosing the internet access provider and space provider [WebSpace]. I delivered training on several aspects like Backup; professional Internet search and usage and Email. The company is a regular customer and recommends my services strongly to others. |

FWS asked me to upgrade their network form BNC to Cat5 and to assist and enlarge their existing 5 Client Network to 15 Clients (including LAN-Printers). I also consulted them on the relocation of the company. I was responsible for the moving of the complete Telecommunication and IT structure and to ensure the timely usability after the relocation. In due course I bought and set up a Shared Folder Server, which also acts as an Internet router and mail server. I set up an internal Workflow using Outlook 2000. I was able to provide these services on time and the customer is highly satisfied and recommends me to others. Latest Project was to implant a Laser Scanner Bar-Code System into a Webbased Database. |

Mr. Mache came to me for advice on some difficult problems with his IT-structure. I was able to solve these problems, which were caused by untrained employees and badly configured Desktops. Later on I built him a Cat5 network with 15 Clients and an NT4 Server, and sold Desktops, and peripherals I also provided Software. Training for the staff. I also solved some existing licensing problems and maintained his IT-structure (both his private and office). Mr. Mache is highly satisfied with my work and calls me often for assistance and help, through I have to drive 200km to get to him. Also he recommends my work to others. |

I was assigned to build up the IT-Infrastructure while the company is build up. I had to meet a schedule and be as efficient as possible with the given resources. I decided on an NT4 Server/Win98 solution to keep the Total Cost of Ownership down, and to ease the administration. I planned and deployed the Cat5 Network, built the Server, implemented Security and Administration, and included Internet access for the network users. I also optimised internal workflow. The customer was highly satisfied with the work and still calls me up for advice and Help. Lately I’m training an employee, so that he can take over the Administration and the handling of the Website. We are talking about redesigning the Homepage and include Content Management in the Site. |
